Weeks 13, 14, and 15 - It's a...

It's been a great two weeks for us!  Jamie and I both traveled for my brother Rob's and soon-to-be sister-in-law Steph's bach parties.  Baby and I went down to Key West to soak up some rays and get wild off some nonalcoholic beverages.

On Tuesday, I hit 15 weeks and we went in for another ultrasound.  While is was interesting to get some 3D pictures (but let's face it: all 15-week-old fetuses look the same), we really went in for a confirmation of the sex.  Turns out our OB's 80% guess of a girl at 13 weeks was 100% correct.  Hooray!  I'm not sure if Ford knows what a sister is, but he wants one:

This morning, I did the same cake-cutting gender reveal for my new office as I did with Ford last time around.

And a 15 week picture:

Recap of Weeks 13 - 15:
  • Lil Fil 2.0 is the size of:  an apple.
  • I have gained: about 3 pounds.
  • I love:  no weird cravings anymore.
  • I hate:  no weird cravings, but still don't love some raw veggies, which is a bummer.
  • I physically feel: pretty normal.  I grew a lot at the beginning but don't feel like my stomach has gotten bigger in the last month or so.  I'm not complaining.
  • I emotionally feel:  excited!  We are thrilled to have a girl.  We've said that we'd be happy either way both times I've been pregnant, which was true; but I preferred a boy last time, and preferred a girl this time, so I feel extremely lucky.  That being said, I'm much more nervous to raise a girl (What if she likes dolls?  What if she'd rather go shopping instead of going to a Panthers game?  What if she's as bratty as I was?!  Or worse, what if she's slutty?!), but I figure we have plenty of time to coerce her.

Oh, and here's a picture of Ford in front of a fire truck.  Because fire trucks are awesome.

At it again!

Back to babymaking, so back to blogging.  After a long hiatus from this blog, guilt finally.  Today, I hit the 13-week mark for baby number 2, and I've already been a horribly lax parent to this kid.  No belly pics (till today), no reading and rereading pregnancy books, no being super anal about what I eat, and no shouting from the rooftops that I'M PREGNANT (although I did finally post it on Facebook the other day in an attempt to cover all my bases at once).  Just living life with a toddler while in a semi-permanent state of queasiness.

This pregnancy was just a bit earlier than we anticipated (though not nearly as unexpected as Ford's), but we are pumped to do it all over again, and, most of all, for Ford to have a sibling.  He seems to understand the concept sometimes, and loves kissing my belly, but other times will lift his shirt up and yell "baby!"  Our typical conversations go like this:

"Ford, are you excited to be a big brother?"
"YES!"  (Ford's answers are always emphatic)
"Are you going to take care of your brother or sister?"
"YES!"
"Are you going to teach your brother or sister things?"
"YES!  ART!"
"What do you want to name him or her?"
"Papples!"  (meaning "Apples")
"Are you sure about that?"
"YES!"

Brother love.

Yesterday, I had a ultrasound, and we got a guess at the sex from the technician with "a methodology that is 80% accurate."  It's killing us to not say anything to family and friends yet even though we feel relatively confident we know, so we're going to go in for an elective ultrasound that we purchased off of Groupon (don't judge) in a couple of weeks.

Finally, here's a picture of me today at 13 weeks.  My belly is definitely bigger this time around from my muscles being stretched out, even though I've probably gained a similar amount or even less weight so far.

13 weeks

Recap of Weeks 1 - 12:
  • Lil Fil 2.0 is the size of:  A peach (per a quick Google search, since I'm no longer keeping up with these things).
  • I have gained:  Maybe a pound, if that much.
  • I love:  Ice cream, carbs, and jalapeno pickles.
  • I hate:  Luckily, no weird food aversions this time.
  • I physically feel:  Okay.  I've definitely had more nausea and headaches this time, but nothing major.  Now that I'm almost out of my first trimester my bedtime is creeping back to closer to Jamie's instead of Ford's.
  • I emotionally feel:  Good!  My hormones have been crazy this time around though, and I've been weirdly weepy at some inopportune times.
