I'm not sure why, but right when you hit the third trimester of pregnancy is when the comments start getting annoying, disheartening, and rude. Just a couple of weeks ago, I would be asked, "When are you due?" and my answer would get a smile. Now, when I don't look or feel much different, the response has become "Wow, that long?!" This is an actual interaction I had the other day:
Lady at Spa: Congratulations! When are you due?
Me: Thanks! October.
Lady at Spa: Wait...when?
Me: Oc-to-ber.
Lady at Spa: Wow! You look like you're about to pop now!
Me: Thanks. Pregnant people love being told that.
Lady at Spa: [Pause] I meant...you're just so tiny everywhere else.
Me: Yes, I'm sure that's what you meant.
Other than that, things are good. Two weekends ago Ford and I went to Hilton Head and spent the weekend with Jenni (visiting from Hong Kong!), Becky, and 7-month-old Noah:
Last weekend we all headed to Chapel Hill, where I got to spend the day with college friends celebrating a bachelorette; I got to try a barre class for the first time, which I was better at than I thought I'd be at 7 mos. pregnant. Meanwhile, Ford and Jamie went to UNC's field day and hung out with the Fillibens, including Aunt Taylor and the dance team.
Other than that, we've been avoiding the rain...
...and getting outside when we can.
Ford's new thing is calling me "mom" instead of "mommy," which really freaks me out. Dad is usually still "dada," but will get a "dad" every once and awhile. But Ford's other new thing is laying on me - which is difficult right now, but we manage - which reminds me he's still a (my) little boy. (Yes, I'm reading American Psycho with my toddler on top of me, and yes, it creeps me out a little bit):
Recap of Weeks 28 - 30:
- Lil Fil 2.0 is the size of: almost 16 inches long and almost 3 pounds.
- I have gained: between 15 and 16 pounds.
- I feel: good! A little slow, but good; no big changes.
